Good hearing equipment is essential to removing barriers to learning for our children.
At the beginning of every school day, our children undergo a hearing check. During this time, trained staff complete a visual check and an audiological test of the equipment and can connect the children to their radio aid. Once a radio aid listening assessment is complete, these are taken to the classroom and connected to the sound-field system, which is available in each classroom.
To promote independence, our children are encouraged to keep their equipment in excellent working order, to report concerns and to develop strategies to help noisy environments.
Furthermore, an Ewing group representative visits the school on a half termly basis to conduct a detailed hearing aid analysis using a text box and to monitor the classroom sound-field systems.
Additionally, we promote independence in our children by helping them to manage and take care of their own hearing equipment. The complexity of this training increases as the children move through the school.
