School of Life

The ‘School of Life’ aims to provide pupils with learning opportunities that go beyond that of the National Curriculum. Each week, our pupils visit the ‘School of Life’ to practically explore an experience that will not only teach them life-long skills but also help prepare them for the ever-changing society in which we live.

Provides pupils with the skills and cultural capital they need to thrive.

Each week, pupils visit the School of Life classroom to learn a new skill.

Pupils have a broad and balanced learning experience. They are equipped with the knowledge and skills that will support them throughout life.

Examples of experiences from our ‘School of Life’ include:

  • Making a bed
  • Wrapping a present
  • Setting the table
  • Eating at a restaurant
  • Greeting people
  • Tying a tie
  • Writing an address on an envelope
  • Threading a needle

We have written a song about the Hacton School of Life:
