Mathematics

Our maths curriculum is designed to build on our current success in Maths and to reflect on ways to further engage the children. We aim to develop a deeper understanding and reasoning through challenges both in and out of the classroom.

Our Mathematicians

Knowledge: A mathematician at Hacton is fully equipped with the knowledge to confidently approach age-appropriate mathematical questions and problem solving.

Skills: Children will develop skills in problem-solving, arithmetic, reasoning and the ability to build mental images of problem-solving scenarios.

Experiences: Our times table and weekly problem solving challenges, our Math’s Day, our participation in quizzes, our school environment and our school links, are all key to nurture our children’s skills in arithmetic and reasoning.

Celebrations

To engage our school community, we share and celebrate Hacton learning experiences on our school blog. View the latest Maths blogs here

Times Table Journey

Our Times Table Journey booklets record milestones in the children’s ability to recall their times tables and correctly answer questions on them. Certificates and badges are awarded to our pupils for their achievements. more »

Curriculum Planning

Careful curriculum planning ensures that our pupils build on existing knowledge and skills over the course of their Hacton learning journey. This leads to better understanding, knowledge retention and engagement.
