At Hacton Primary School, we believe that music plays an integral role in a child’s development and that music should be an enjoyable and exciting learning experience. Through music education we believe that pupils should both learn technical music skills and wider social and emotional skills.
Our Musicians
Knowledge: Children will learn to understand simple musical notation and the concepts of pitch, dynamics, tempo, timbre, texture as well as the structure of a piece of music.
Skills: Children will learn to compose and perform their own simple rhythms and songs with increasing confidence.
Experiences: Our pupils will learn to sing, perform, read musical notation and play a tuned instrument, such as the recorder, glockenspiel or ukulele.
Celebrations
To engage our school community, we share and celebrate Hacton learning experiences on our school blog. View the latest Music blogs here
Curriculum Planning
Careful curriculum planning ensures that our pupils build on existing knowledge and skills over the course of their Hacton learning journey. This leads to better understanding, knowledge retention and engagement.
